- Plan on installing new stations in Sampson County.
- Plan on installing new stations in Chowan and Currituck Counties with USGS grants.
- Plan on purchasing 50-100 new automatic water level recorders.
- Began collecting samples for PFAS analysis from all wells within the state network. – 5 monitoring stations (12 wells) thus far.
- Collecting samples for laboratory analysis in order to establish background levels for the area. – 6 monitoring stations (15 wells) thus far.
- Added historical groundwater quality data from the Resource Evaluation Program (REP) and the Isolated Wetlands (IW) study to the database.
- Both groundwater quality and level data are now available to browse, download and map.

- Installed a new station with 6 wells at Chinquapin Elementary School.
- Finished constructing a six well station at Merchants Millpond State Park in Gates County.
- Acquired three new stations and two expanded stations in Camp Lejeune and two additional wells in Pilot Mountain State Park.
- Purchased 171 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Removed 5 stations from the active statewide monitoring well network due to hazardous locations, well casing failures, property owner denial of access, and replacement efforts.
- Abandoned the old Chinquapin station.
- Completed synoptic chloride survey of 413 wells in October-November 2019.
- Collected samples for laboratory analysis from 31 groundwater monitoring stations (69 wells) in order to establish background levels for the area.
- Purchased new equipment for collecting PFAS samples.
- Collected samples for PFAS analysis from 5 groundwater monitoring stations (14 wells) in New Hanover County for a special study.
- Created a publicly-available groundwater quality mapping application.

- Installed a new station with 6 wells at Clinton, Sampson County.
- Installed a new station with 4 wells at Topsail Fire Tower, Pender County.
- Installed 2 wells as part of a new station at Merchants Millpond State Park, Gates County to be completed in the FY 2020.
- Acquired a new station with 1 well at Powell Drive, Wake County.
- Collected samples for laboratory analysis from 29 groundwater monitoring stations (94 wells) in order to establish background levels for the area.
- Removed 4 stations from the active statewide monitoring well network due to hazardous locations.
- Purchased 29 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Purchased a small tractor with a bush-hog and small front end loader and replaced a riding lawn mower used for site maintenance work.

- Installed a new station with 6 wells at West Carteret Water Corporation (WCWC), Carteret County. One well and the pilot hole/geophysical logging were paid for by WCWC to help track saltwater encroachment.
- Acquired three wells at Burton Park Boulevard station in Onslow County which were constructed by the City of Jacksonville to track saltwater encroachment.
- Collected samples for laboratory analysis from 12 groundwater monitoring stations (43 wells) in order to establish background levels for the area.

- Installed a new station with 4 wells at Long Creek, Pender County.
- Installed a new station with 3 wells at Presidio, New Hanover County.
- Installed a new station with 4 wells at Myrtle Grove, New Hanover County.
- Purchased 80 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Collected samples for laboratory analysis from 16 groundwater monitoring stations (43 wells) in order to establish background levels for the area.

- Installed a new station with 4 wells at the Holly Shelter wildlife access ramp, Pender County.
- Installed a new station with 3 wells at the Castle Hayne Park, New Hanover County.
- Purchased 60 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Installed 4 cell phone based, remote water level recorders on drought indicator wells. DWR has 16 cell phone telemetry units operational.
- Purchased a new borehole video camera to replace our old and outdated model.
- Collected samples for laboratory analysis from 8 groundwater monitoring stations (28 wells) in order to establish background levels for the area.

- Installed a new station with 4 wells at the Spring Creek Elementary School, Wayne County.
- Installed a new station with 4 wells near the Town of Calypso, Duplin County.
- Installed 3 additional wells at the Kelly station in Bladen County.
- Purchased 90 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Installed remaining 4 cell phone based, remote water level recorders on drought indicator wells.

- Installed a new station with 5 wells at the Pocosin Lake Wildlife Refuge Site near Pantego, Hyde County.
- Installed 3 wells at the Nakina station in Columbus County.
- Purchased 60 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Purchased 10 cell phone based, remote water level recorders and installed 8 of them on drought indicator wells.

- Installed a new station with 4 wells at the Eagle Point Golf Course in northeastern New Hanover County.
- Purchased 147 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Purchased 2 cell phone based, remote water level recorders and installed them on two drought indicator wells.
- Installed a new Surficial aquifer well at the New Hanover Correctional Institute station in New Hanover County.
- Installed a new Upper Cape Fear aquifer well at Ivanhoe station in Sampson County.

- Installed a new station with 5 wells in the Town of Farmville in Pitt County.
- Purchased 171 additional automatic water level recorders.
- Performed maintenance on 8 wells at eight different stations including installation of two replacement surficial aquifer wells.
- Installed a new Peedee aquifer well at Ivanhoe Station in Sampson County.

- Installed two additional wells at Roxobel Station in Bertie County.

- Purchased 100 additional automatic water level recorder shelters for monitoring wells.

- Installed four additional wells at the Grifton Ballfield Station in Pitt County.
- Installed four additional wells at Deppe Station in Onslow County.
- Installed Trenton Station in Trenton, Jones County. Station consists of four wells.
- Purchased 50 additional automatic water level recorders for monitoring wells.

- Installed Parkertown Road station near Hubert in eastern Onslow County. Station consists of six wells.
- Installed two new wells at the Folkstone Station in Onslow County.
- Purchased an additional motorized, pump reel trailer to aid in aquifer testing and maintenance of monitoring wells.
- Purchased 27 additional automatic water level recorders for monitoring wells.
FY 2006-07: North Carolina Ground Water Resources Monitoring Well Network 2007 Annual Report
- Installed a new monitoring station near Bear Grass in southern Martin County. Station consists of seven wells. Wells screen the Surficial, Peedee, Black Creek (2), Upper Cape Fear (2), and Lower Cape Fear aquifers.
- Installed a new monitoring station near La Grange in western Lenoir County. Station consists of four wells. Aquifers screened are the Surficial, Black Creek (2), and Upper Cape Fear.
- Installed a new monitoring station near Grifton in southern Pitt County. Station consists of one well (with plans to drill additional wells in a future fiscal year). The Lower Cape Fear aquifer is screened.
- Purchased 60 additional automatic water level recorders for monitoring wells.
FY 2005-06: North Carolina Ground Water Resources Monitoring Well Network 2006 Annual Report
- Installed a new monitoring station at West Research Campus in western Pitt County. Station consisted of a total of six wells. Aquifers screened are the Surficial, Yorktown, Black Creek, Upper Cape Fear, and Lower Cape Fear.
- Installed two new wells at the Halls Station in Sampson County. These two new wells completed the station with screens in the Black Creek and Upper Cape Fear aquifers.
- Began implementing multi-year plan for replacing aging and damaged wells in the DWR network with new wells to preserve data continuity and integrity. This plan included installation of replacement wells detailed below.
- Replaced one Upper Cape Fear aquifer well with a faulty grout seal at the Clarks Station in Craven County.
- Replaced one Upper Cape Fear aquifer well with a faulty grout seal at the Wellfield 258 Station in Onslow County.
- Replaced one Black Creek aquifer well with a faulty grout seal at the Magnolia School Station in Robeson County. Additionally, installed two new wells at this site, screened in the Black Creek and Upper Cape Fear aquifers.
- Replaced one Upper Cape Fear aquifer well with a faulty grout seal at the Red Bank Station in Robeson County.
- Evaluated one new model of water level recorder for suitability in the NC Monitoring Well Network. This model was deemed suitable and 31 units were procured for installation on wells in the northeastern part of the state.
FY 2004-05:
- Installed nine new monitoring wells and two replacement monitoring wells at four sites in Pitt County to refine the hydrogeologic framework of Central Coastal Plain.
- Installed two pilot holes and collected two geophysical logs from two new sites in Pitt County.
- Purchased 26 additional water level recorders for the Coastal Plain well network.
- Evaluated two additional automatic water level data collection platforms for possible use in the DWR well network.
- Began testing the use of solar panels for power generation for water level recorders in the DWR well network.
- Purchased a motorized pump reel trailer to aid in aquifer testing and maintenance of monitoring wells.
FY 2003-04:
- Drilled 11 new wells in Bladen and Cumberland Counties in support of aquifer characterization and Capacity Use Investigation in the Bladen County area.
- Added two existing wells to DWR network by monitoring two former DOT supply wells in Johnston County
- Purchased 42 new water level recorders to monitor water levels in the Southern Coastal Plain in support of aquifer characterization and Capacity Use Investigation in the Bladen County area.
FY 2002-03:
- Did not drill any new monitoring wells this year. Drilling funds were used to purchase 125 new water level recorders to monitor water levels in wells throughout the state.
FY 2001-02:
- Purchased 35 additional pressure transducers.
- Constructed 14 new monitoring wells in the Central Coastal Plain
FY 2000-01:
- Constructed 23 new monitoring wells in the Central Coastal Plain
- Constructed 3 replacement monitoring wells in the Central Coastal Plain
- Were unable to purchase additional water level recorders due to budget cuts
FY 1999-00:
- Installed 12 new monitoring wells in the Central Coastal Plain
- Purchased 10 Sutron digital water level recorders
- Purchased In Situ pressure transducers and data loggers for use in aquifer testing
- Abandoned 9 monitoring wells in flood prone areas to prevent groundwater contamination by flood water
- Purchased a Geovision Micro 2 downhole camera for assessing maintenance needs and confirming construction of monitoring wells
- NCDENR gives DWR mandate to manage the statewide monitoring well network.
- Built a rip-rap wall at Hobucken Research Station in Pamlico County to protect the research station from wake erosion on the Intracoastal Waterway. Two wells had already been damaged by the erosion.
FY 1998-99:
- Purchased 60 Sutron digital water level recorders
- Abandoned 4 damaged wells in Dare County to prevent groundwater contamination by overwash from the Croatan Sound.
- DWR has been intermittently monitoring select monitoring wells in the Coastal Plain since the mid-1990s.
